Compression Stockings are a very effective method to relieve the symptoms of venous insufficiency. They squeeze the leg starting from the ankle up to the calf and thigh. This mechanism mechanically accelerates the blood flow through the superficial veins. The net result is lesser pain, improvement of the heavy legs sensation and reduction of the swelling. Different types of compression stockings exist according to pressure. Preventive stockings are known as “Anti-Fatigue” or “Maintien” or “Support”. Their pressure is low. Medical stockings have higher pressures. They are divided in several pressure classes referred to as Class I, II, III. The stocking type and pressure Class you need are decided by your Doctor according to each case. In both preventive and medical stockings, specific measurements are to be taken to ensure the proper sizing.
